anxyciety

from the Neologism Dept.

So, I think its hilarious that Seamus coined chandelierium (meaning the state of temporary insanity one feels after looking at too many light fixtures) and it was then used in a write-up about a chandelier art show.

So I need to officially coin my word here before anyone else picks up on it, or one-ups me:

anxyciety (pronounced anks'y'see'ity) - a portmanteau of anxiety and NYC; or possibly could be modified to other cities to be a mix of anxiety and city (maybe anxcitiety?). It defines the intense anxiousness one feels when reading about lots of great goings-on about town (ie, in New Yorker, Time Out, flavorpill, Daily Candy weekend, thrillist, etc etc etc), especially when the act of reading is combined with morning coffee drinking, and even moreso when combined with a boring ominous workday. Has been known to cause literal jitters, and can be very damaging for corporate productivity and the pocket book -- as employees spend all day buying tickets to events and coordinating with friends.
