Ok, this is unrelated to your post... but I need a sanity check. Read the summary or watch the trailer for this new Disney movie based on a beloved children's novel... is this how you remember the book? Erm... I remember the book ripping the heart out of my chest, but I don't recall Treants and swarms of bee-soldiers! WTF?

Maybe Bush lost his grip on reality when he went across the rope swing! (just trying to tie this rant into your post somehow)

way to tie it back in. smooth.

Honestly I clicked on the link but haven't watched the trailer yet. I don't know if I can. I loved this book so much and it made me so incredibly sad that I don't know if I want to revisit it ... especially in movie form ... which sounds like a horrible adaptation based on your description.

Well, if you check it out, let me know what you think. It might be that I'm just not remembering it properly. I seem to remember the kid having really tough feet from running around barefoot all the time, and he resorted to pancakes as a grief management tool. There may have been troll armies in there somewhere.

jeez. I had this open in a browser tab all day yesterday. I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I really have such such vivid visual memories of this book even though I read it like 15 years ago. I dont know if its worth it to corrupt them.
